ISOQAR/ACS Audit 2020 – The result (provisional!) is in…
What a year it has been so far!
As if the last few months has not been at all challenging, we elected to proceed (rather then take up the offer of re-scheduling) with our annual ACS Audit and so, last week we again got down to the serious business of being externally audited by Alcumus ISOQAR.
The Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) is a voluntary program developed by the SIA, which is designed to establish baseline performance standards in the delivery of outsourced security services. There are nearly 2400 companies currently operating in the UK’s private security industry and approximately 750 of these are assessed as part of the ACS.
ACS companies can score a maximum of 145, with zero being scored as a satisfactory level of accreditation. Only companies who meet these standards and continue to meet them when annually audited, are permitted to advertise their membership of ACS. It is a mandatory requirement of GSS’s clients that we maintain our accreditation as an ACS accredited company.
This year’s ACS audit included:
- An assessment of our adherence to BS:7858 screening and vetting processes
- Our compliance with the Private Security Industry Act, agency worker legislation and key control procedures
- A bench-marking exercise during which our company, commercial, people, resource and people management were measured
At the conclusion of our audit, we obtained a ‘provisional’ score of 119 – which is an improvement of 14 points on our 2019 audit score!
The provisional score will be fully confirmed at the conclusion of site visits, which due to COVID restrictions will be conducted later this year.
This score means the company has obtained the necessary level to qualify as an ACS ‘Pacesetter’, which represents the top scoring 5% of all companies in the Approved Contractor Scheme.
In addition to this, we were again also successful in obtaining a re-accreditation to ISO-9001-2015 – Quality Management System, as part of the simultaneous audit process by Alcumus ISOQAR.
Huge thanks and congratulations goes out to all of our colleagues who have (and continue to) contribute significantly to our company’s constant focus on continual improvement and being the best that we can be in everything that we do! This huge audit score increase is testimony to our whole teams efforts during the last year of unprecedented challenges and we (the Senior Management Team) couldn’t be prouder of this amazing collective achievement!!
