GSS & VETERANS AID – PLUS BFBS BIG SALUTE GRANT…

We hold the objectives and work the Veterans Aid do for our veterans very close to our hearts. We are proud to continue to work in support of the organisation by working to provide meaningful employment opportunities for those veterans supported by VA, either through direct employment with us or through some of our most trusted clients or supporters.

The veterans we already employ are still thriving and well into their second year with us now. We are delighted to again be working in collaboration with more veterans who are looking for employment and we’re in the process of developing placement options for three more veterans at the time of writing.

In great news elsewhere for Veterans Aid:

VA is proud to have once again had its work acknowledged by the BFBS Big Salute, the annual campaign that raises vital funds for armed forces charities.

CEO Dr Hugh Milroy said, “As ever we are delighted to be receiving this vital funding from BFBS whose support in bringing our services to the attention of a larger audience we value immensely. It represents a great start to 2018 and our first year in our new HQ/Operations Centre.”

The charities selected to receive 2018 BFBS Big Salute grants are Alabare, The Association of Royal Naval Officers (ARNO), Blesma The Limbless Veterans, Bridge4Heroes, Combat Stress, Felix Fund, Glen Art, Help 4 Homeless Veterans, Learning Through Horses, The Matthew Project, Turn to Starboard, Unload and Veterans Aid.

The progress of their respective projects will all be featured on the Forces Network www.forces.net via its digital, radio and TV platforms.

These latest grants have been funded by the 2016-2017 Big Salute campaign, thanks to generous donations and sponsored events undertaken by personnel and military communities from across the forces world.

And this year, the #BigSalute fundraising pot had additional support from the Services Sound and Vision Corporation’s (SSVC) Board of Trustees.

Nicky Ness, Director of Forces Broadcasting and Entertainment for SSVC, said: “We are delighted that we will be able to support so many brilliant charitable projects this year.

“A huge thank you goes out to all of our supporters who organise annual events as well as the many individuals who have taken time out from their busy service lives to raise funds for the Big Salute.”

The new VA offices are just yards away from the premises VA occupied for so many years in Buckingham Palace Road. Dr Milroy added, “Number 27 Victoria Square  provides brighter, more fit for purpose accommodation for ex-servicemen and women seeking our help. Unsurprisingly among  of our first visitors  was a crew from BFBS!”
