During recent recruitment interviews, I was asked by several candidates ‘what do you most like about working at GSS?’
Well, I have worked at the company for eight years now (how time flies!!) and so my response cited several things including our family-friendly culture, the exciting nature of the work we do, and the credibility we have built up within our areas of specialism.
But the thing I’m most proud of is our unwavering commitment to our core values and our ethical approach to business – emphasised by our ongoing commitment to the Living Wage Foundation.
We have been a Living Wage Champion for going on for eleven years now.
We have just completed our annual pay rate review to ensure that all GSS employees are paid at or above real living wage levels nationally.
At a time when employment status within the private sector security industry is under scrutiny like never before – paying our teams at a minimum of real living wage levels is fundamental in the context of our vision which is to ‘passionately raise industry standards through the delivery of dependable and sustainable specialist security services’.
But while there are a multitude of benefits to businesses championing the Real Living Wage, my aim here is not to evangelise but simply to offer huge thanks to every one of our valued clients, who without exception, agreed to the implementation of these increases.
When your clients include numerous Tier 1 security and FM companies, prominent live entertainment venue operators, luxury automotive manufacturers, football clubs and global media companies – it’s especially gratifying to know that those clients truly share our values.
