What are protection dogs?
Protection dogs — also called patrol or general-purpose (GP) security dogs — are professionally trained dogs deployed with a licensed handler to deter intruders, detect unauthorised people, and, if needed, detain a threat under strict handler control.
They work as a single accredited team — the dog is only as effective as the handler holding the lead. A dog's senses detect movement, scent, and sound long before a person could, giving teams early warning and a powerful psychological deterrent.

Common breeds
The breed matters less than the training, the temperament and the handler. We work with the breeds proven for protection and patrol — commonly German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Dutch Herders and Rottweilers, among others. Every dog is assessed, trained and matched to the environment it's deployed into.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a protection dog and a guard dog?
A protection (patrol) dog works with a trained, SIA-licensed handler and is trained for controlled aggression — it deters and detains only on command. A 'guard dog' left to operate alone is both less effective and legally risky under the Guard Dogs Act 1975.
Are your handlers licensed and accredited?
Yes. Handlers hold SIA licences and NASDU Level 2 qualifications, and deployments follow BS 8517 Part 1 with site-specific risk assessments and assignment instructions.
Where can protection dogs be deployed?
Construction and industrial sites, vacant property, events, corporate premises, and private estates — anywhere a visible, mobile deterrent adds value.
Are protection dogs safe?
Yes. Dogs are trained for controlled aggression — they respond only to a clear threat or handler command and release on command. Welfare and bite-prevention protocols govern every deployment.
