MARCH 2017 RECRUITMENT UPDATE

It’s been another busy month in terms of recruitment. As per our listings in last month’s news, we are engaged in a process to appoint Southern Operations Supervisor to ensure the highest levels of service delivery across our southern region. We have received applications from some exceptionally strong candidates and are well underway with interviews. We are hoping to be in a position to announce an appointment to this role in time for next month’s newsletter.

Additionally, we are recruiting an Administration Assistant to join our head office team.

We attended the Employers Day at Malpeet K9 Academy a couple of weeks ago and had the pleasure of meeting eight trainee explosive and drug search handlers, all from a variety of backgrounds in terms of their experience. We got to spend some great one-on-one time with each handler to discuss their career aspirations and some of the future opportunities to join GSS once they are in possession of their qualifications.

The day also gave us an opportunity to plan in the next couple of General Purpose Dog Handler courses. We are excited to announce that April’s course is now fully subscribed with GSS candidates, though we do have a few places left on June’s course. If you know anyone who would be interested in doing a course here then please refer them on to careers@global-support.org.

On the subject of referrals – we are really pleased to announce that three of our colleagues, Doug Plews, Liam Hardcastle and Steve Tollitt have been awarded referral bonuses of £100.00 for referring new members to join our team. Keep them coming guys!

Sadly, Sara Sheppard – who has been working within the recruitment function of the business, providing high level admin support on a part-time basis, completed her last day with us on the 29th March. Sara has been employed full-time with our scheduling dept. during 2015 and much of 2016, before pursuing her desire to work within the veterinary sector. Ever the GSS supporter, Sara agreed to come back to support our recruitment efforts for a short period of time and goes back into full-time work at her veterinary practice, with the warmest of wishes from everyone on the team here at GSS.

Lastly, congratulations to Mark Starling – Regional Supervisor (pictured) on successfully completing (with flying colours!) his Explosive Detection Course at Malpeet K9 Academy this month. Another skill added to Mark’s fast growing repertoire since leaving the Marines and joining GSS last year.
