A GREAT VISION WITHOUT GREAT PEOPLE IS IRRELEVANT…

…so says Jim Collins in his book ‘Good to Great’ (a great read if you get the chance) and with that in firmly in mind, Q4 2016 saw another tremendously busy quarter in terms of our businesses’ recruitment activity, with various strategic partners playing a part in helping us meet our recruitment quota for the quarter.

Most significantly, we were delighted to help facilitate two separate protection dog handler courses. Q4 saw courses at both Reaseheath College and Malpeet K9 Academy completed by delegates, some of whom have committed to a career a security dog handler and have subsequently been offered roles within GSS or working up to it with a continuation of training. In addition to this, we have assessed and recruited another 25 members of staff in both PAYE and self-employed basis; and we have placed a number of candidates onto SIA training courses as they look to take their first steps into the world of private sector security.

During this month (January) we have received an unprecedented amount of candidate enquiries related to all roles currently being advertised. For anyone reading this, who has recently applied – please bear with us, we will respond but it’s taking slightly longer than our usual few days to do so because of the volume of applications we have received that need to be vetted and processed by our recruitment admin team.

The first part of this year will see some of our candidates/staff members doing the Explosive Detection Course at Malpeet K9 Academy – and we have course dates in the diary for the next 3-4 months.

On a related subject – our Professional Working Dog Handler Qualification is eligible for candidate funding under the Advanced Learning Loan Scheme.

Advanced learner loans are available for individuals aged 19 or above to undertake approved qualifications at Levels 3 to Level 6, at an approved provider in England. Advanced learner loans give individuals access to financial support for tuition costs similar to that available in higher education and are administered by Student Finance England.

Advanced learner loans are paid directly to the college or training organisation on behalf of an individual. They are not means tested or subject to credit checks and any individual who meets the criteria will be able to apply for a loan regardless of their current employment status.
