GSS SUPERSTARS OF THE MONTH – Q4 2021

Shining a light of recognition on our team’s performance is something we relish doing and so we’re absolutely delighted to announce a glut of GSS Superstar of the Month Awards for the fourth quarter of 2021…

October 2021 – Ian Turpie – Protection Dog Handler

Ian joined GSS early in 2021 and has proven just as capable and professional as his extensive prior experience suggested to us. We recognise Ian through this award for embodying our core value of ‘reliability‘. Ian is a dream to work with, always punctual, never misses a check call or report submission and through this consistent and exemplary performance has quickly earned the respect of the whole team. We expect reliability but as those in security operations management will attest, we don’t always get it. But when we do so consistently, we believe that this is worthy of recognition and sits at the very heart of the GSS way of doing things.

November 2021 – Derren Fitton – Detection Dog Handler

There was no debating the awarding of this month’s recognition. Our work for ASM Global went fully operational in August 2021 and since then, Derren has proven to be an integral part of our contract team. Always professional in attitude and appearance,  affable and engaging with customers, while both constructive and responsive in her interactions with our contract management team. Recognition of Derren living our core value of ‘strive for excellence’ was further cemented by the unsolicited positive feedback we received from our senior client about Derren and her wonderful dogs.

December 2021 – Asif Qasim – Protection Dog Handler

As our mission states, we’re in the business of ‘identifying risk, providing reassurance and keeping you safe‘. Imagine our absolute delight to be told that our colleague Asif Qasim who is assigned to the protection of 8 Bishopsgate Tower in central London, fully delivered on this promise. Asif and the onsite supervisor were alerted by a passing taxi driver, to the presence of trespassers who has accessed the site via a CCTV blind spot. Asif and his dog tracked (via a search commencing on the ground floor) and eventually apprehended the trespassers on the 30th floor of the development. Said trespassers were detained and handed over to the police. This was a truly great piece of collaborative work with our partner Wilson James’s onsite supervisor and through this award, we recognise our colleague Asif for living our core value of ‘unity’ (teamwork).

The GSS Superstar Award has become an integral agenda item of our monthly senior management meetings, during which each member of our senior team puts forward a case for nomination. While the debate is constructive and usually fun, the final selection is never (usually!) easy, as there are always award-worthy examples of our team members exceeding the standards expected of them. So, while we can only issue one award each month, we want to sincerely thank all members of our team for their continued support and hard work for our valued clients.
