We are tremendously delighted to announce the arrival of Dave Pitt, recruited to the exciting new role of Director of Specialist Services.
Dave’s appointment is a tremendously exciting one for our business as we strive to deliver on our vision of becoming the supplier of choice within our sector.
Dave’s new role is both critical to our mission and multi-faceted. As well as working to develop our current canine services capability, he is tasked with focusing on a range of strategic canine opportunities and building strong, trusted relationships with our clients and cross governmental bodies such as the Home Office, Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI), Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), Defence Science & Technology Laboratories (DSTL) and the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC).
Currently undertaking a process of reviewing all of our active detection dog deployments, ensuring each is fully embedded as a component of our clients overall risk mitigation strategy and emergency evacuation protocols – he will quite simply be working to ensure our dogs are performing to their highest potential!
Prior to joining GSS, Dave was the national canine lead at Counter Terrorism Policing National Headquarters (CTPHQ). He was responsible for the development of capability for Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD) across government. This included the design and development of a National Canine Training and Accreditation Scheme (NCTAS) in collaboration with the Home Office and CPNI. He lead on the implementation of the government scheme and also designed the framework for implementing the scheme in the private sector.
Prior to his time at CTPHQ,he spent 10 years as an EDD handler, trainer and team leader with the Metropolitan Police. He’s even led teams of EDD handlers at every Wimbledon Championship from 2007 to 2016. It’s is safe to say that he has vast experience of operating within the unique environments our canine teams are regularly deployed!
