GSS SUPERSTAR OF THE MONTH – OCTOBER 2019

The GSS Superstar Award for October 2019 has been announced and goes to our valued colleague, Bentley Motors Security Concierge – Paul Meaney.

Paul is recognised for living our core company values of ‘reliability’ and ‘strive for excellence’ when dealing with a potentially problematic situation that occurred on site.

Paul was on duty on 12th October when a contractor attempted to gain access to the site.  Paul noticed that the male had an out of date Bentley ID card, but was in possession of a very recent contractor pass, which suggested that he should be allowed on site.  Paul politely and professionally asked the contractor to park up and step into the Main Gate to sign in manually. At that point Paul checked the “site banned” list and saw that the male appeared on it.  He followed the appropriate escalation procedure by informing our clients in-house security tea. However, the male challenged back and was adamant that he had not been site banned previously, stating that he had been using a contractor pass for several weeks.  When Paul presented the information and evidence, the male became a little more vague with his story, but remained adamant that he should be granted access.

The contractor was escorted to our clients in-house security team, who also confirmed that the male was indeed site banned.  Even though he continued to remonstrate, the male was refused entry. Upon further investigation at the beginning of the following week it transpired that the male had been site banned previously, but been reinstated, although the lists had not been updated appropriately.

Matt Crofts, National Operations Director said: “Paul’s work is celebrated for his commitment to task, professionalism in dealing with a displeased customer, striving for excellence and doing the right thing, even though there was doubt and confusion with the information presented before him.”

The GSS Superstar Award has become an integral agenda item of our Monthly Senior Management Meetings, during which each member of our senior team puts forward a case for nomination. While the debate is constructive (and usually fun), the final selection is never easy, as there are always award-worthy examples given of our team members exceeding the standards expected of them. So, while we can only issue one award each month, we want to sincerely thank all members of our team for their continued support and hard work for our valued clients.
