GSS SUPERSTAR OF THE MONTH – May 2022

With the halfway mark of the year approaching fast, our senior management team met recently to discuss some of the many outstanding contributions made by our team in May in an effort to identify our GSS Superstar of the Month – May 2022. On this basis, we’re exceptionally pleased to announce that Detection Dog Handler – Mark Starling has been nominated to receive this recognition.

Mark has worked with us for around six years now and latterly, has been deployed as the lead handler at The NEC Birmingham on behalf of our client OCS.

Mark is recognised through this award, as living our core company value of Unity (Teamwork).

Mark was invited by our client OCS to attend an event as part of Bear Grylls Safety Week, at the NEC. During the event, Mark delivered a demonstration of his dog’s capabilities and his role within the protective security regime provided by OCS at The NEC, to the many delegates in attendance.

Speaking of the award, Jason Lennox – Operations Manager said – “Public speaking remains one of humankind’s biggest fears. Considering the exceptionally short lead-time and therefore Mark’s lack of preparation time, he delivered what our client termed ‘an exceptional and informative’ 45 min segment. We knew that stress-management training from The Royal Marines would come in useful one day!”

The GSS Superstar Award has become an integral agenda item of our monthly senior management meetings, during which each member of our senior team puts forward a case for nomination. While the debate is constructive and usually fun, the final selection is never (usually!) easy, as there are always award-worthy examples of our team members exceeding the standards expected of them. So, while we can only issue one award each month, we want to sincerely thank all members of our team for their continued support and hard work for our valued clients.
