FAREWELLS AND FUTURE PLANS – AN UPDATE FROM OUR CEO

I am writing to inform you of some changes here at GSS.

Firstly, I would like to share that our Operations Director, Matt Crofts, will leave us in June to take up a new role at Manchester University as Head of Planning, Compliance and Governance. 

Matt has been an integral part of our team for almost five years and has contributed greatly to our success. He joined us as a Regional Operations Director in 2018 and quickly rose to the newly created role of (National) Operations Director in 2019. Under his leadership, our operations department has supported a 40% increase in turnover since 2018. 

Matt’s prudence, professionalism, and strategic approach were most evident during the challenging period of the Covid-19 pandemic, where he helped ensure continuous delivery to our customers.  His hard work and dedication have been critical to our business planning and delivery – up to this day – and we are forever grateful for his contributions to the GSS family.

In other news, we will also bid Mike Dermody – Operations Manager a fond farewell at the end of April as he joins Bolton Council in a new career move. We are thankful for the steady hands and pragmatic approach to contract management he has brought to our team during his time here, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Over the next three months, Matt and I will work together with the senior management team to consider and reimagine the operations structure, ensuring that our staff and customers remain at the heart of our decision-making as we continue to expand. While we will certainly miss Matt, we know that he will take his exceptional skills and experience to his new role, and we wish him every success in his new venture.

We have an exciting opportunity to bring about positive change. As an SME, we value our nimbleness and ability to adapt quickly. As a team, we will work closely and efficiently to enhance our offerings to customers and provide even better support to our team on the ground and in head office. 

Once again, I would like to thank you for the support you have shown Matt and Mike during their time here, and I’m sure they’ll be in touch between now and their departure.
