GSS SUPERSTAR OF THE MONTH – NOVEMBER 2022

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the GSS Superstar of the Month – November 2022 is Protection Dog Handler – Kira Cooper.

Kira is currently deployed working alongside the Bullring Birmingham Security Team for our valued client Mitie. Her role consists of a variety of duties including public re-assurance patrolling with a high level of customer engagement.

Kira was nominated by GSS Operations Manager – Mike Dermody who said “As you would expect in such a complex operating environment, it is rare that two shifts are the same. During her time at Bullring, Kira has dealt with a wide variety of incidents – but always does so in a positive, proactive, safe and professional manner. This reward is deserved recognition for Kira living our company values of ‘Teamwork’ and ‘Strive for Excellence’ on an ongoing basis over many continued months of this deployment.”

In one example of a very recent incident that occurred involving Kira, we received the following unsolicited feedback from our client:

‘I just wanted to pass our praise and gratitude to your dog handler Kira. Today we had a male that was in a vulnerable state. Kira and Boss Dog remained with the male and comforted him for the entire time that we were waiting for professional medical help. The male would not engage with us or the Police officers in attendance, Kira quickly established that the male was a dog lover and used Boss Dog to help bond with him and managed to obtain all of the details that were needed while keeping him calm. Boss Dog remained calm and placid and knew exactly what was expected of him from Kira.

The GSS Superstar Award has become an integral agenda item of our monthly senior management meetings, during which each member of our senior team puts forward a case for nomination. While the debate is constructive and usually fun, the final selection is never (usually!) easy, as there are always award-worthy examples of our team members exceeding the standards expected of them. So, while we can only issue one award each month, we want to sincerely thank all members of our team for their continued support and hard work for our valued clients.
