The use of drone technology is rapidly on the rise, bringing fresh challenges to counteracting the potential damage they may cause.
Originally a specialist hobby, drone use has evolved, allowing any individual to walk into high-street stores and purchase a drone, being airborne within minutes and potentially causing havoc.
Lack of knowledge, cheap devices deficient of particular safety features and a will to delve dangerously close or even into restricted areas, will without doubt result in calamitous incidents.
In all consideration, new additions to existing security measures must be implemented, as currently we are now all dangerously open to a new form of threat and sabotage.
Most are finding themselves short on solutions and limited by the lack of innovative technology to counteract drones, GSS however have developed a pioneering solution to identify, locate and recover hostile drone systems and their pilots. We shall be exhibiting this at an invitation only event over the summer.
France’s state-run power firm Électricité de France (EDF) on Wednesday said unidentified drones had flown over seven nuclear plants this month, leading it to file a complaint with the police. The unmanned aircraft did not harm “the safety or the operation” of the power plants, EDF said, adding that the first drone was spotted on 5 October above a plant in deconstruction in eastern Creys-Malville.
